The Faces of Fabric: A Textile Exhibition to honor the survivors from the El Monte Thai Garment Slavery Case
The Faces of Fabric: A Textile Exhibition to honor the survivors from the El Monte Thai Garment Slavery Case is an immersive exhibition marking the 30th anniversary of a landmark human rights case. This exhibit utilizes fabric and multidisciplinary works, featuring photos provided by Judy Branfman, to highlight labor, showcasing textile art and storytelling that confronts exploitation in the garment industry and beyond.
Chancee June, a Los Angeles–based visual artist whose Buddhist practices guide her mindful creations, debuts her first solo and political exhibition The Faces of Fabric, a deeply personal work honoring immigrant workers’ struggles and inspired by her mother’s experience as one of the 72 trafficked victims in the El Monte Thai Garment Slavery Case, representing courage, hope, liberty, and justice for all.
By memorializing survivors’ stories, the exhibition seeks to educate and empower the public on labor trafficking, immigrant/workers’/human rights, and corporate accountability, ensuring that the lessons of El Monte are remembered and the fight against modern-day slavery continues.
Thai CDC played a crucial role in the liberation and rehabilitation of the El Monte workers, offering them legal, housing, medical, and emotional support. That legacy of advocacy continues today as we fight for justice, dignity, and protection for all immigrant workers.

Understanding ADHD and Neurodiversity
Neurodiversity is more than a buzzword—it’s a powerful framework that recognizes and values the natural diversity in how brains work. ADHD is one of many neurodivergent ways of thinking, often misunderstood as simply a deficit in attention or hyperactivity. In reality, ADHD comes with its own strengths, challenges, and unique ways of experiencing the world.
In this workshop, we’ll explore what it means to be neurodivergent, how ADHD fits into the broader concept of neurodiversity, and why shifting from a deficit-based view to a strengths-based perspective is so important. We’ll also discuss practical strategies for managing focus, energy, and executive function, along with ways to create environments that support neurodivergent individuals.
Whether you identify as neurodivergent, suspect you might, or want to better understand and support those who do, this session will provide valuable insights and tools to navigate the world through a neurodiversity-affirming lens.

Reclaim Our Streets in Long Beach
AAPI Angelenos make up 107,000+ of the undocumented population and 111,000+ AAPIs with legal status live with undocumented family member(s). In one way or the other, our communities are impacted by the terror inflicted by ICE and the Trump administration.
Southeast Asians and South Asians are being detained and disappeared from the streets, at court hearings, ethnic businesses, and more. Our people are homebound, experiencing food insecurity and financial instability, out of fear for their lives.
With the passage of the Big Ugly Bill, an massive $170+ billion is allocated towards immigration enforcement and detention. This sanctioned violence against immigrant communities is not "normal". It is the exact opposite, it is undemocratic and it is un-American.
Join us, loud and proud in AAPI culture and diversity, at MacArthur Park in Long Beach on Thursday, September 11 from 4PM - 6PM. We hope to see you there!
Banking on Growth: Fireside Chat w/Fresh Peaches Founder & Southwestern National Bank
Join Ace NextGen and Southwestern National Bank for an exclusive Fireside Chat & Mixer at Cafe Bleu, a beautiful modern bar/lounge and Asian restaurant known for its elegant atmosphere and community vibe. Food is included in this event!
Toilet paper gel, the product you didn't know you needed! Learn more in a fireside chat with Shawn Kim, the founder of Fresh Peaches Toilet Paper Gel. Shawn created his product out of his personal need, realizing that a fresh feeling was the bottom line and he didn't like the idea of flushing disposable wipes down the toilet. Shawn developed his product in the most practical way: minimum viable product (he made the first batch in his kitchen), test with friends, test with real customers, and then scale-up with funding.
How does one get funding to scale up a fledgling business? Shawn tried to get a loan and several other banks turned him down. One of his friends suggested reaching out to Southwestern National Bank, and they made an SBA loan happen. And the rest is history. Find out the details and how you can get the funding you need to scale your business!
After the fireside chat, enjoy **complimentary food** and a relaxed **mixer** where you can connect with fellow founders, small business owners, and leaders in the Ace NextGen network.
