Shawn Chou is Attorney at Law with the Vida Law Group, APC, an immigration firm that specializes in business and family-based petitions. He was recognized as “Top Attorney” by Pasadena Magazine twice and received an award from the Los Angeles Pathfinder Asian American Senior Association. Shawn joined our Board of Directors in 2013, and served as our 2014 Gala Chair. He received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley and law degree at the Loyola Marymount University.

Shawn Chou, Chairman

Hogan is driven to create a solid operational foundation and determine the best solutions to move a company forward. As a global technology leader who has served some of the world’s most recognizable platforms, Hogan is widely known for doing just that. He has facilitated the right strategic changes at the right times for companies such as Flipagram (now TikTok through acquisition), Evite, eHarmony, and Nickelodeon. These strategies have enabled each of the platforms to continue to evolve and flourish today.

Hogan has been a sought-after speaker as the need for more STEM workers to staff technology start-ups (CNBC 2016). Hogan has also been a panelist and speaker at technology and digital-related conferences speaking about Agile methodologies, among other leading industry topics.

Hogan currently serves as the President & COO for Glo, one of the world's premier online yoga platforms. Hogan’s role is to ensure the company has a strong foundation to support its rapid growth, just as he has successfully done many times before.

In addition to his role at Glo, Hogan is a formal mentor for 500 Global and Endeavor. He has held board appointments including one appointed by the Mayor of Los Angeles to serve on the city’s Quality and Productivity Commission, as well as a regional board member of The Opportunity Fund, a non-profit organization and small business lender, focused on driving economic mobility and building stronger communities.

Hogan was raised in Los Angeles and is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in Psychology. Hogan is a sports and healthy living enthusiast who embraces the chance to scuba dive any chance he gets. He currently resides in Los Angeles.

Born in the Philippines and raised in Los Angeles, Marissa B. Castro-Salvati is currently Government Relations Manager for Southern California Edison’s Local Public Affairs. She formerly served as the Director of the Office of Asian & Pacific Affairs for then Assembly Speaker Willie Brown. She has extensive political staff experience with major campaigns, such Presidential candidates U.S. Senator Paul Simon, Governor Michael Dukakis and former President Bill Clinton. Marissa was Los Angeles City Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa appointee previously to the Board of Civil Service Commission and the Board of Taxi Cab Commission.

Marissa is influential in a number of programs and groups being started in the community. In the summer of 1993, Marissa and a close colleague founded and launched the first internship program of its kind in the Pilipino American community (statewide and nationwide) - Summer Program for Empowerment and Leadership (SPEL). She is a proud Founder of the first domestic violence transitional housing in the Asian Pacific community for women and their families – Asian Pacific Women’s Center (APWC). In the late 80s, she and a handful of API community activists saw the need to establish the Asian Pacific Community Fund, a United Way-like agency to serve the needs of the API community based organizations, and is now a significant and thriving organization.

She currently serves on non-profit Boards of Asian Youth Center and current Chair of East Los Angeles College Foundation. She served on the Board of a number of community-based organizations such as: Koreatown Youth and Community Center, Chinatown Service Center, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (Past President), Asian Pacific Community Fund (Founding Member & Past President), International Visitors Council of Los Angeles (Former Chair and Past President), Asian Pacific Women’s Center (Founding Member) and Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles (Past Vice President, former Chair of Public Affairs Committee), as well as business/chambers of commerce Boards like, Asian Business League (Former Chair and Past President), Central City Assn., Valley Industry and Chamber Assn., and Alhambra (Past President), Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos (Vice Pres.), Lakewood (Past President), Montebello, & Rosemead Chambers of Commerce.

Marissa has been awarded numerous achievements for what she has accomplished and to name a few: Selected as one of the 2014 Business Life Magazine Women Achievers, one of the inaugural “100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the Nation” in 2007 by a national organization (Filipina Women’s Network), 2005 Community Service Awardee for Search to Involve Pilipino Americans; 2005 Public Advocate Awardee for Filipino American Chamber of Commerce – Orange County; 1999 The American Council of Young Political Leaders Delegate; 1992 "Women For:" Achievement Awardee along with other prominent women such as Linda Bloodworth-Thomason; Honoree for the 1994 Asian Pacific Family Center, etc.

Marissa lends her voice to public service announcements, commercials and commentaries. She has hosted special shows produced by KSCI-TV and International Channel Network (i.e. Mt. Pinatubo Telethon, Special Philippine Elections, etc.), and has been a guest on radio and television talk shows. She also has been one of the selected spokespersons for past SCE television public service commercials.

While attending UCLA, Marissa was actively involved in Samahang Pilipino throughout her years in UCLA at which she was one of the founders of the Pilipino Cultural Night. A third-generation Chinese American born in Los Angeles, Rick Eng currently serves as program manager of the L.A. vs. Hate at Special Service for Groups (SSG), a major anti-hate initiative of the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations.  He helps manage a response partner network of agencies with specific expertise in addressing victims of hate.  Prior to joining SSG, he served as interim executive director and program director for OCA-Greater Los Angeles. Among his past and present nonprofit community organization Board and volunteer involvement includes El Pueblo Park Association; Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) National and the Los Angeles Chapter; Asian Pacific Community Fund; Chinese Historical Society of Southern California; Project NEO; and Alhambra Educational Foundation where he served as its executive director.

Amanda Ma is Founder & CEO of Innovate Marketing Group, an experiential event and management company where she oversees event strategy and brand integration for clients such as DIRECTV, East West Bank, and County of Los Angeles. Eljay Feuerman is the Director of reDEFINE, IW Group’s generational marketing initiative. From market insights to brand activations, Eljay is responsible for all marketing efforts targeting young consumer segments. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara and Loyola Law School, Jeri Okamoto-Tanaka practiced law with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher as a litigator before joining Los Angeles Assemblymember Caldera as the District Director and API Community Liaison, where she co-founded the Asian Pacific American Legislative Staff Network. She is currently pursuing her Master of Divinity from the Claremont School of Theology and is the Lay Leader of West LA United Methodist Church, an historic Japanese American and affirming reconciling congregation. Kelly K. Knott is a Wealth Advisor at Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group and focuses on providing comprehensive asset and liability management advice to wealthy families and individuals. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, she spent 10 years working in the Commercial Real Estate Group originating and closing over $1 billion in commercial real estate loans nationally. With her extensive background in real estate, she was influential in building and facilitating Wells Fargo Wealth Management’s real estate curriculum, and traveled across the country to host seminars and panels with private bankers. Kelly graduated from Woodbury University with her bachelor’s degree in International Business and Finance, and joined our Board in 2014.

Kelly Wong (Knott)

Jenner C. Tseng is a Partner at Hill Farrer & Burrill LLP and has represented and advised clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to individuals in successfully litigating settlements against their insurance carriers. One of his greatest achievements includes appearing before the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which resulted in a published decision. Jenner spent the majority of his childhood abroad, including Saudi Arabia to Malaysia. He received his Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Management Information Systems from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada where he was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Continuing his education at UCLA School of Law, he earned his JD and acted as an associate editor of the Asian Pacific American Law Journal.

Bill Watanabe was the founding Executive Director of the Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) in downtown Los Angeles. For 32 years, he guided its growth, in conjunction with the Board of Directors, from a one-person staff to a multi-faceted social services and community development program with 150 paid staff, many of whom are bilingual in any of eight Asian Pacific languages and Spanish. Bill retired from LTSC in June 2012.

I hold a bachelor degree in Economics from UC Berkeley, and currently work as a director at Longevity Global Financial, which offers insurance, annuity products and real estate investment opportunities. Prior to Longevity, I worked in investment banking and

hedge funds in New York and San Francisco.

In my spare time, I enjoy doing outdoor activities such as sailing and skiing and spending time with my little sister.

Tony Yu is the second generation owner of DSG Insurance Services, Inc., a family-owned and independent insurance brokerage that offers commercial, life, and real estate insurance solutions. He was formerly a trust attorney at the international law firm of Holland & Knight, and is also a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter. Tony joined our Board in 2013 and currently serves as our Board Secretary. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business-economics, Communications, and Accounting at the University of California, Los Angeles and law degree at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Tony currently holds a 9 golf handicap.
